Discount Calculator

Calculate the final price after a percentage discount is applied.

Calculate Discount

Enter the original price and discount percentage to find both the amount saved and the final sale price.

Discount amount: Original price × (Discount percentage / 100)

Final price: Original price − Discount amount

How to calculate a discount?

To calculate the discount amount manually:

  1. Convert the discount percentage to a decimal by dividing by 100. For example, 20% becomes 0.20.
  2. Multiply the original price by this decimal. If the price is $100, then $100 × 0.20 = $20.
  3. Subtract this amount from the original price to get the final price: $100 − $20 = $80.

Quick Tip: If an item is 20% off, you are paying 80% of the original price. Multiply the original price by 0.80 to find the final price in one step.
